Pen correction calculation using the “Log-Pen” Method
for aged or hard bitumen
When RheoFalt HP-AM is used in an asphalt mix or in hard bitumen as a pen corrector, it is not necessary to find the right amount by trial studies
Ventraco discovered, evaluating the penetration values of the last decade (ten years), the correlation between the existing penetration calculation method (Log-Pen) and the use of RheoFalt HP-AM.
A calculation tool was developed by our Innovation Laboratory, in which using only the properties of the aged bitumen and virgin bitumen together with the requested end penetration in final produced asphalt, to calculate the
By changing only these three parameters;
- RAP
- Virgin Bitumen
- RheoFalt HP-AM
it is possible to calculate the optimum most environmentally friendly and cost effective asphalt composition.
This method is tested and verified on it accuracy on real asphalt production over many years and several 100.000 tonnes of asphalt. The Log-Pen method is accurate to ± 5 penetration points.
